Eric Clapton Behind the Sun

Behind the Sun is a 1985 album by the legendary English guitarist Eric Clapton. He named the album like this because of a line in Albert King's "Louisiana Blues". It is also his first collaborative project with Phil Collins. Often referred to as Clapton’s “Comeback album”, it was received very well in both the UK and the US. After nearly a decade of Clapton’s guitar taking a backseat to his singing/songwriting, this album was looked upon for some of his best guitar playing since the Cream era in the 1960s. The single “Forever Man” features Eric playing a scorching guitar solo at full force. The video for “Forever Man” became an MTV favorite, featuring an accident where one of the cameras falls off the dolly. The album is also dressed up with synthesizers played by Peter Robinson & Chris Stainton (Clapton played guitar synthesizers on the 9th track, "Never Make You Cry"). Booker T. & the MG’s bassist, Donald Duck Dunn also played on the sessions.

Kiss Asylum

Asylum is an album by the American hard rock band Kiss. It features the debut of lead guitarist Bruce Kulick, who played with the band on their Animalize tour and officially replaced Mark St. John in September 1984. He was the band's third lead guitarist since the departure of Ace Frehley in late 1982. This new lineup of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Carr, and Kulick would last for 6 years until Carr's death in November 1991.

It was certified Gold on November 13, 1985, when it sold 500,000 copies. Paul Stanley stated on the 1987 Kiss Home Video release "eXposed" that Asylum is actually certified Platinum, although the RIAA database lists it only as Gold.

The colour of the lips on the sleeve mimic the colours of the 1978 solo releases: red for Simmons, purple for Stanley, blue for the lead guitarist (here Kulick, rather than Ace Frehley) and green for the drummer (here Carr, rather than Peter Criss).

The tour for this album featured the largest Kiss logo on stage the band has ever used, as well as one of the largest lighting rigs. No concert footage of this tour was used in the Kissology II release, minus silent film which is overshadowed by graphics in the menu. The three videos for the album were filmed on set in London, England.

Prince and The Revolution Around the World in a Day

Around the World in a Day is an album by Prince and The Revolution, released on 22 April 1985 on Warner Bros. The album was released without any publicity, simply turning up in record stores to the surprise of fans. Prince decided to go in the opposite direction of Purple Rain and instead of giving fans what they expected, he challenged them to new sounds. A happy medium for all was the hit single "Raspberry Beret".

The album opens with a keyboard-flute interrupted by a screaming Prince. The title track combines a Middle-Eastern sound with Prince's trademark drum machine and an organ solo. It fades into "Paisley Park", a Beatlesque tune which describes a whimsical place and general feeling of joy. Prince later took the song name for his vanity label and recording studio. The heartfelt "Condition of the Heart" follows with a powerful piano introduction. Next is the hit "Raspberry Beret" followed by the album's funkiest track "Tamborine", containing only bass guitar, drums, finger cymbals and vocals, all performed by Prince alone.

Todd Rundgren A Cappella

A Cappella is a 1985 album by Todd Rundgren. The album is one of Rundgren's most unusual in that every sound is the product of the artist's voice. Rundgren employed overdubbing techniques and an E-mu Emulator (an early sampler), electronically manipulating the sound of his voice in order to mimic conventional rock instruments, handclaps, and other sounds. This unique approach to music making was later explored by artists such as Mike Patton and Björk.

Bon Jovi 7800° Fahrenheit

7800° Fahrenheit is Bon Jovi's second album, and was released in April 1985. It introduced the classic '80s Bon Jovi logo that would later on be used in Slippery When Wet and New Jersey.

Lead singer Jon Bon Jovi explained that the title referred to the temperature at which stone liquefied; as the Fahrenheit scale is primarily used only in the United States, "7800° Fahrenheit" thus suggested "American hot rock."

1. "In and Out of Love" – (Jon Bon Jovi) - 4:26
2. "The Price of Love" – (Jon Bon Jovi) - 4:14
3. "Only Lonely" – (Jon Bon Jovi, David Bryan) - 5:02
4. "King of the Mountain" – (Jon Bon Jovi, Sambora) - 3:54
5. "Silent Night" – (Jon Bon Jovi) - 5:08
6. "Tokyo Road" – (Bon Jovi, Sambora) - 5:42
7. "The Hardest Part Is the Night" – (Jon Bon Jovi, Bryan, Sambora) - 4:25
8. "Always Run to You" – (Bon Jovi, Sambora) - 5:00
9. "To the Fire" – (Bon Jovi, Bryan, Sambora) - 4:28
10. "Secret Dreams" – (Bon Jovi, Sambora, Torres, Grabowski) - 4:54
